Turned the heat on Thursday night, and the most foul odor started blowing out of the vents. As it was after midnight, I shut off the heat, threw an extra blanket on the bed, and waited till morning. Called Five Star, and was able to get an appointment for late in the day, but no heat in the meantime. Gary Taylor and Sam arrived before 8 p.m. and got into the crawl space to find the problem. Fortunately, it wasn't a dead animal in the ductwork or heating unit, but rather the whole-house filter that an unknown critter had whizzed on. They replaced the filter, did not find any critters, and had the heat back on quickly.
They apologized for the wait, explaining that they were short on staff for the day, and were doing their best to answer calls. I really appreciate the effort made to get my problem solved quickly. Great guys, will request Gary for my spring maintenance!
