Air Conditioning Maintenance

Air Conditioning Maintenance

Is it important to get your air conditioning equipment checked on a regular basis? Maybe it’s because he’s in the business, but Larry would answer yes.  If you have dirt and grease in your air conditioner, your air conditioner is going to have problems that might cost a lot to repair, and it could break down on your – usually at the worst possible time.

In this video, he shows photographs of issues we have found with air conditioning units that have not been regularly maintained. Watch the video to see:

  • A dirty blower motor – The heat of the motor is like a magnet to grease, and it will pick up the microscopic dots of grease from your air flow.
  • A moldy blower wheel (fan) – When air that is high in humidity flows across it, it mold forms on it.
  • A dirty evaporator coil – The evaporator coil in your heating and air conditioning unit becomes wet as air flows across it.  The wetness makes it the equivalent of a 6 MERV filter, which means it will pick up everything up to a certain size.  Whatever it picks up will stick to your coil.  If you have .005 inch of microfilm of dirt on your coil, you lose 10% of efficiency.

These examples show it is very important to get your heating and air conditioning tuned up on a regular basis.  You want to make sure your unit runs right, and you want to keep it clean.  Keeping your unit clean is the answer to good, healthy, efficient operation of your heating and air equipment.
