Quality Insulation Solutions - Greenville SC Part 1
This video is part 1 of an attic energy upgrade we did for a home. This homeowner’s utility bills are exorbitant – well over $400 a month in both the winter and summer – while the house is only 2,050 square feet.
When we arrived, we saw two signs of what is going on in the house. First, we found dirty insulation where air has been pulled into the house because of duct leaks. Then, we found a free standing electric heater in the master bedroom. The heater is another sign of duct leaks because the master bedroom is on the outer end of the house, away from the thermostat. It means that the system is heating and cooling at the center of the house where the thermostat is, but it is not heating and cooling the extremities due to duck leakage.
To fix this homeowner’s problems, we will install R-49 insulation (stabilized spray cellulose) in the attic, and we will fix disconnects in the duct work and put insulation over where the attic fan is.
